Smoke and Shadows

The Story...

begins with a Cast of Characters, wanderers, ghosts, a mad king... the varieties of human nature.

Act I.

"King Lear": an old story about the head of a household whose life unfolds into tragedy.

Act II.

The sub-text of King Lear, the causes of the troubles: the seven deadly sins, and an additional three.

Act III.

The sub-sub-text of King Lear: the structure underneath the deadly sins: mythologies and stories, the explanations of the world, the essential tales.

Epilogue:

Everything explains everything; this is the code underneath the drama. "King Lear" is any story which belongs to 'anyman', only the time, place, sequence and events change in order to include all players. The subterranean texts remain, undisturbed. The narrative ends.
